North Bergen issued the following announcement on April 11.

North Bergen High School students learned firsthand about the functions of local government during Student Law Day on Friday, April 8, 2022. This annual educational event allowed NBHS students to take on the roles of municipal officials including Mayor Nicholas Sacco, Township Administrator Janet Castro, the entire Board of Commissioners, and many others for the day, in order to learn about their jobs and the responsibilities of North Bergen government.

Law Day began with the participants learning about how the police department operates, including insights into modern investigation techniques, followed by a tour of police HQ including the dispatch center, jail cells and evidence room deep within the building. Students finished the day with a mock commission meeting in township chambers, hotly debating numerous contentious resolutions on local topics.
