North Bergen: Sports Open for Softball & Baseball Seasons

North Bergen issued the following announcement on April 11.

Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Township Commissioners officially opened the Recreation baseball and softball seasons on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

The baseball season started with a pair of games at the 76th Street Field as the Commissioners out the first pitches. Girls’ softball began with two games at the 64th Street Field adjacent to the Recreation Center. Kids ages 7 to 14 participated in the sports, with 18 teams and five divisions in Little League baseball, and ten teams and two divisions in softball.

Also speaking words of support and encouragement to the teams before the games were Commissioners Hugo Cabrera, Frank Gargiulo, Julio Marenco and County Commissioner Anthony Vainieri, along with Parks and Recreation Deputy Jimmy Avella, Soccer Coaches Jimmy Somick and Rob Camacho, Baseball Coach Patrick Brady, Baseball Coordinator Eddie Teurbe-Tolon, Softball Coordinator Joan Davison, and Assistant Softball Coordinator Adriana Medina.
