North Bergen issued the following announcement.
Members of the North Bergen Police Department participated in the Hudson County leg of the 39th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Special Olympics of New Jersey.
Police Chief Peter Fasilis was among the NBPD officers who began the run at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 10 at the 91st Street entrance to Braddock Park. Also participating in the North Hudson leg of the run along Bergenline Avenue were officers from Guttenberg, West New York, and Union City.
While many officers choose to join only a portion of the run, NBPD’s Captain Jorge Raposo and SLEO II Rob Gonzalez made it all the way to the finish line at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
